Shop Days

Well, we have all had those days. You know what I mean when I say The shop. Iam currently at my company shop getting work done on my truck. Well, in most cases things get done quick, but in others they may take a little time. As i sit in the breakroom I hear alot of drivers complain about our company shop. I know that sometimes we dont have time to sit and wait all day for repairs, but we as drivers need to know what goes on behind the scenes. Imagine or remember i should say the last time your truck was in the shop. You go look out the window and noone is out there working on it. Its just sitting there. So, alot of us get mad. Afterall we are paying for the service, right? Well, if you have ever worked in a shop for cars or trucks, then you know that most mechanics are working on more then one thing at once. Service writers assign more then one job to a mechanic when there is alot of work to do. Also others mechanics with less experience often ask the more experienced ones to show them or help them to get work done. I could go on about all the things that happen, but frankly i dont have enough time to list them all. Bottom line is that when we go into a shop for repairs we need to understand that just like we are being pushed so are they. Be patient and dont bother the mechanics, and you will get out faster.

I know i havent been on here alot, but i will try to post at least twice a week. Also check out the news links on the ticker. I have found alot of interesting things that deal with our industry. Also if you have a news story either national or local, please send me a comment and i will post it here. I'm also trying to find some good trucking songs for the blog. If you know any send them to me. Thanks and be safe out there --- Backlash
