Rasing the Weight Limits

I was told about this during vacation and have read on it some. I see alot of good and bad things with this idea. First for anyone who hasnt heard they are talking about raising our groos limit to 100,000lbs. Yep! Thats alot of weight. Everyones first thought will be pay. Twenty thousand more lbs should pay more. Right? Dont know. I guess we should leave that to the brokers. WAIT! change that they will give us less if they had the chance ( joke for all you brokers reading ). All loads are different so pricing will be too. I read in the trucker news that it would put less truck traffic on the highways. Do they really think that? Look if they raise the limits. Companies will just ship more. I run flatbed and at most lumber or steel companies they put you at just below legal weight. For all you owner ops out there more weight means... yep more wear and tear on your truck. I don't think the brokers will factor that into costs. Large fleets maybe. Also with more weight comes more fuel. Anyone who has pulled overweight loads knows that it kills the fuel. I wonder how they will factor in the green thing with that. Probably two different wheels at work as always. Experience! This is a big one. Hey, i know we were all rookies at one time, but that's alot of weight. I've have seen new and old driving like they were in a hot rod. This is the part that scares me. I think if they make this bill a law, it will make wrecks more severe. More weight = more force, you know what they taught you in driving school, or at least i hope they did. *** I want to hear from you on this. Please comment. I will post asap. Also I'm adding a poll on this that i will post when it closes. As always be safe and keep the wheels rollin. -- Backlash
